Across its sites, Accrofab delivers a broad spectrum of specialist capabilities. These range from aero-engine components, including brackets, structures and cooling parts, to large-scale structural parts for airframes and helicopters. The acquisition of the Advanced Titanium Forming (ATF) site in 2024 further strengthened Accrofab’s portfolio, adding some of the largest hot and superplastic forming capabilities in the world, with approvals from Airbus, Boeing, Leonardo and other major OEMs.
** Spotlight on Welwyn Garden City site
During her recent visit, Marie-Margaux Honikman, ADS Toulouse Director, had the opportunity to explore Accrofab’s Welwyn Garden City facility, a center of excellence where a unique blend of engineering expertise and advanced technologies come together.
- Forming: Pickling, hot forming and superplastic forming up to 1500T with working envelopes to 3428mm x 1621mm, plus press brake forming up to 3000mm.
- Joining: Advanced TIG welding and capabilities.
- Cutting: Laser cutting up to 5-axis with a working area of 3800mm x 1400mm x 760mm.
- Milling: CNC machining up to 5-axis
- Chemical Processing: Chemical cleaning and chemical milling up to 3800mm x 1400mm x 1400mm.
- Heat Treatment: Qualified working zone to H-220mm W-750mm L-1000mm.
- Finishing: Polishing, deburring, and vacuum blasting.
- Testing & Inspection: NDT, comprehensive materials testing, plus Hexagon Roamer Arm and Magna-Mike inspection tools.
- Engineering & Design: Powered by CATIA V5 R32, enabling complex modelling and precision engineering.
This wide range of end-to-end processes makes the Welwyn Garden City site a cornerstone of Accrofab’s manufacturing network. It reflects the company’s strategy of delivering fully integrated solutions to its customers, while maintaining the flexibility and responsiveness that have long been part of its DNA.
